Sean Roberts

“What is fulfilling about our work is every single day, we get to make right something that was once very wrong.”

Sean is not just one of the nation’s foremost civil trial lawyers; his commitment to justice runs deep. He is dedicated to standing up for individuals and businesses that have been affected by the negligence, recklessness, or wrongful acts of others. This dedication is evident in every case he handles, fueled by a strong sense of empathy and a desire to level the playing field for those who have been wronged.

Sean has established himself as a formidable force in the courtroom with an impressive quarter-century of legal experience under his belt. He has received numerous accolades that attest to his expertise and dedication. These include being recognized as a “Board-Certified Expert in personal injury law,” a “Texas Super Lawyer,” and a “Top 1% Distinguished Lawyer.” His fearless approach to litigation has also earned him the prestigious title of “2020-2021 Litigator of the Year.”

Sean’s legal career took root at Vinson & Elkins LLP, an international law firm renowned for its comprehensive legal services. Here, he honed his skills on oil & gas disputes and cases involving defective medical devices and bad drugs. In 2001, he was headhunted by one of Houston’s most respected personal injury firms. His exceptional performance led to him becoming the youngest partner in their half-century history. In 2006, Sean took his career to new heights by founding Roberts Markland LLP. Today, Roberts Markland LLP is a nationally recognized authority in personal injury cases, wrongful death lawsuits, and business disputes.

The firm’s team of eight lawyers brings a unique set of skills to the table, with multilingual capabilities that allow them to handle a variety of accident and product liability cases. These range from transportation accidents (involving automobiles, trucks, and aviation) to maritime incidents (including offshore rigs and longshoreman accidents), oilfield explosions, refinery accidents, defective products claims, pharmaceutical injuries, toxic contamination cases, and bad-faith insurance practices.

In addition to his legal achievements, Sean is an active member of esteemed legal associations such as the American Association for Justice and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. He also shares his knowledge and experience as a guest lecturer at respected institutions like the University of Houston Law Center.

Beyond the courtroom, Sean’s dedication extends to his community. He actively supports local charities, focusing primarily on mental health initiatives and promoting the arts. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Museum of African-American Culture (HMAAC), sponsors the Ensemble Theater, and holds the chairman position for the Tairon Gray Foundation. His commitment to philanthropy extends to his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, where he participates in the Guide-Right program.

On a personal note, Sean is a devoted father to his 14-year-old son Joshua and 4-year-old daughter Ava. Together, they enjoy golfing, skiing, and traveling, creating precious memories, and sharing adventures. In his downtime, Sean enjoys delving into politics and studying history, reflecting his keen interest in understanding the world around him and the forces that shape it.
