Job Title: Associate Attorney

Duties: Handle all aspects of pre-litigation cases and cases in litigation. Attend prospective personal injury client meetings to gather facts of the case, determine causes of action if any, and extent of damages, decide whether to accept representation, and establish an attorney-client relationship. Provide pre-litigation and litigation strategy in the entire case docket and ensure compliance with strategy. Oversee transition of personal injury pre-litigation docket into litigation docket. Draft settlement demands for pre-litigation cases. Draft pleadings and motions, attend hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations in litigation matters. Research federal and state issues relevant to cases. Coordinate and provide assistance to co-counsel on subpoena, discovery, and trade secret litigation and motion practice matters for corporate clientele. Draft and review transactional documents for corporate clientele, including guarantee agreements, releases, letters of protection, demand, and collection letters. Participate in settlement negotiations with opposing parties, advising clients of expected and/or desirable outcomes. Research state law in all U.S. states to advise corporate clients on different laws affecting their business practices across the U.S. Draft legal documents and gather supporting evidence and/or documentation to prosecute corporate clientele’s collection matters. Determine investigative tasks needed to gather evidence on personal injury matters and coordinate with investigators to perform tasks, ensure compliance, and obtain evidence. Draft medical bill reduction requests for medical providers on personal injury matters and negotiate reductions. Interview criminal defense clients, interpret law for clients and help them understand their legal options, negotiate with the prosecution to plea bargain, and represent criminal defendants at arraignments, hearings, and court trials. Develop and maintain relationships with local referring sources.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • J.D. degree
  • Must have a Texas Law license
