Demetria D. Frank | Houston Civil Rights and Litigation Attorney

Demetria D. Frank is a respected civil litigator, legal scholar, and dedicated advocate for justice, equity, and systemic reform. With nearly two decades of legal experience in complex litigation and civil rights, Demetria brings a strategic, client-centered approach to Roberts Markland LLP as Of Counsel.

Complex Civil Litigation and Judicial Experience

Her legal career began at top-tier firms where she litigated high-stakes toxic tort and personal injury cases, earning a reputation for rigorous preparation and impactful courtroom results. She later served as an Associate Municipal Court Judge and Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Dallas—roles that deepened her understanding of judicial processes and sharpened her advocacy across both civil and criminal law.

Academic Leadership and Legal Education

Demetria’s academic credentials reinforce her leadership in the legal profession. She currently serves as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Houston Law Center, teaching Federal Courts, Torts, and Prisoners’ Rights. Her past role as Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Memphis School of Law highlights her ability to drive institutional change, secure impactful grants, and develop nationally recognized student success programs.

Her thought leadership extends into legal publishing, with a forthcoming book, Culturally Proficient Lawyering (Carolina Academic Press, 2025), that addresses bias and cultural competency in legal practice.

Houston Civil Rights Attorney and Community Advocate

As a Houston civil rights attorney, Demetria actively contributes to the advancement of justice both in and outside the courtroom. Her service includes positions with the Memphis Bar Association’s Diversity & Outreach Committee and the Shelby Countywide Juvenile Justice Consortium. Her work consistently reflects a passion for equity, reform, and inclusive representation.

Education and Mentorship

Demetria earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and graduated cum laude from the University of Houston with a B.A. in Political Science and Communications. She continues to mentor young attorneys, lead professional service initiatives, and advocate for community-focused reforms in criminal justice and education.
